Jukebox
software Getting the most from your Jukebox Server is the key function of our WinOcular Jukebox Server Management Software (JSMS). It’s an API/DDE solution for connecting to and managing the massive volumes of data that can be stored on optical storage devices like CD-ROM and DVD-RAM/DVD-ROM multi-unit storage systems. The software is certified for Pioneer, NSM and Kubik CD-ROM, DVD-RAM & DVD-ROM Jukeboxes. Other jukeboxes may be compatible if they use a serial interface for robotic commands and a SCSI interface for the storage drives. When accessing data stored on the Jukebox, the user sees a message stating the Jukebox Request is in process and any other users with requests queued ahead of theirs. The screen on the Jukebox Server PC displays the User ID of the current user, what information they requested, and what the jukebox is doing to process the user's request. The Jukebox Server PC also displays the following information:
JSMS handles file requests quickly and smoothly, dismounting a disk not in use (if necessary) and mounting the appropriate disk with the requested file in a matter of seconds. JSMS can also manage multiple jukeboxes daisy-chained together. The included Object Migration Tool continually monitors the File Server and when preset volume-limits are reached, flags the data as ready to archive. (NOTE: Preset volume-limits are determined by the type of media used in the Jukebox, i.e. CD-ROM, DVD-ROM/DVD-RAM, Optical Disk, etc.) When authorized by the user, the Object Migration Tool verifies the integrity of the object's transfer to the new location and updates the database inserting the new data location information. Maintenance and upgrades to the Jukebox are streamlined so that adding, removing and replacing disks is accomplished with a few clicks of the mouse. When adding a new disk, JSS asks you to “Confirm Media Import” and lists the contents of the CD or DVD Volume for your review, thus eliminating the frustration of loading an incorrect disk. In Novell networks, JSS runs from a client workstation and in Windows network environments it can run from either a client or the File server.
