Your IIS Web server and remote stations must meet the following minimum operating requirements:

Central Site Ascent Capture Requirements

• Ascent Capture 5.0 (or higher) installed in a client/server configuration or as a standalone installation.
• Ascent Capture hardware key attached to each station as appropriate for the station. Refer to your Getting Started with Ascent Capture 5 guide for details.

IIS Web Server System Requirements

• Windows NT Server 4.0 with Service Pack 6a (or higher)
• Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 1 or higher
• Microsoft Internet Information Server 4.0 for Windows NT Server
• Microsoft Internet Information Server 5.0 for Windows 2000 Server
• TCP/IP protocol
• LAN access to Batch Server
• Microsoft Virtual Machine 5.00.3319, if using Windows NT

IIS Web Server Hardware Requirements

Minimum

• Pentium II 300 MHz processor
• 128 Mbytes of memory
• 500 Mbytes of disk space for installation and working space during processing
• 800 x 600 SVGA display with 256 colors
• T1 telephone line (or better) for Internet connection
• Parallel port (standard mode) for hardware key

Recommended

• Pentium II 450 MHz processor (or higher)
• 256 Mbytes of memory (or higher)
• 500 Mbytes of disk space (or higher) for installation and working space during processing
• 1024 x 768 SVGA display with 65K colors
• T1 telephone line (or better) for Internet connection
• Parallel port (standard mode) for hardware key

Remote Module Station System Requirements

One of the following operating systems:

• Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 1 or higher
• Windows NT 4.0 Server or Workstation with Service Pack 6a (or higher)
• Windows 98 with Service Pack 1 or higher
• Windows 98 Second Edition
• Windows 95 with Service Pack 1
• Windows Me
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5
• TCP/IP Protocol
• Internet or Intranet access to the IIS Web server
• Cookies enabled
• Pentium II 300Mhz processor (or higher)
• 800x600 SVGA display with 256 colors (or higher)

Hardware Key Requirements

• An Ascent Capture Web Validation Server hardware key must be installed on the IIS Web server.
• One of the following Ascent Capture hardware keys must be installed on the Batch Server workstation:
• Scan hardware key: Supports custom module processing, in addition to the standard scan functions.
• Workstation hardware key: Supports custom module processing, in addition to the standard workstation functions.
• Custom Module hardware key: Supports custom module processing only. No other Ascent Capture modules can run on a workstation where a custom module hardware key is installed.

In addition, you should have a working knowledge of the Internet and Web servers, Microsoft Internet Information Server and its components, your network configuration, and Ascent Capture.
